What sort of gain could I expect to see if I were to have the head on my XF shaved?
I know it will up the compression ratio, but how does that translate into real world differences?
Does it improve torque, HP, driveability, or all 3?
Or am I missing something altogether?

Shaving the head will cause other problems, better of fitting mild cam and springs & extrators and exhaust.

Having the heads down will increase torque and power, but can also lead to detonation. It is probably not woth the effort unless you are reconditioning your head anyway. Any increase over about 9:1 compression on the 4.1L and you will probably require premium.

Crow do some nice grinds for the 4.1L, in several stages depending on how rough you want the idle. Also a good idea to get roller rockers.

20 thou should be o/k, or under 9.5 to 1 esp with h.p cam.Tidy carefully any sharp edges in chamber and keep timming initially at std settings..C.C combustion chambers first to work out c/r..
