want addvice on LSD diff conversion
i hope too put a lsd diff in my 1997 el falcon gli .with a standard diff
can i buy a conversion kit to change it to LSD were would i find more info

keep your eyes open for an xr6 diff they are 3.45 LSD - I would suggest getting the entire axel and doing the swap that way. try wreakers or the forsale section.

Im doing a changeover on my EA right now, best bet is to get a replacement off the wreckers. Some have pretty good deals and you can change the gears while youve got it out.

how much did you get the diff for?

128 for the diff not the whole axle. mates rates

Thats for an LSD with 2.77 ratio. Like i said, you can throw in some 3.9s or something in there while ur at it.

2.77 usues a unique carrier. U cant put 2.92, 3.08, 3.23, 3.45, 3.7, 3.9 or 4.11 in them without some crafty machining and shimming.

2.77s are uslees... they crown gear is offset heaps on the carier.. im sure even the housing is usless

oh-oh... No drama ill just stick it out with the 2.77 for the time being, id prefer highway gears for the time being anyway.

I remember reading a few threads about changing gearsets in the diff and its just a easy changeover job, but speaking to a few people today it seems that its a precision job requiring tools i definitely dont have...

Still better than having a single-spinner...

Is your car auto or manual??

I would probably look out for an XR diff as others have mentioned. Dont forget to make sure if you have ABS, and you buy the whole diff, that the replacement one is going to be a straight swap over...

the xw falcon ran 3.55 gears if this helps at all
