Well drove home yesterday came into the garage popped the bonnet and what did i hear? A hissing noise from the back of the engine, noticed there was coolant at the back of the engine around the exhaust manifold area.
Checked the engine oil, no dilution of water etc, radiator tank is ok no oil in it. Engine runs fine and as powerful as ever.
At the moment the car is at Nepean Ultra Service (Jim Baird's shop) going under investigation.
Best case scenario, it's just a leaking heater pipe/hose worst case scenario it's a blown head gasket.
Now i'm very very worried that after the head gasket change(if it is the case) the engine will never be the same again, ie a drop in power.
EF_GuY is not a happy.

Well for your sake EF_Falcon_GuY I hope it is something simple.
BUT......
If it is the gasket why would you think you will loose power?
I agree with XA, this represents the ideal opportunity to check on the timing chain and adjusters, freshen the head (maybe a shave for more compression), and hey, while your in there how about a new cam. :s2:
Not to state the obvious how bout drop a v8 in there? only problem is its about 1000 times the cost of getting the gasket replaced

Probably a welsh plug let go. A 50c part that will cost a couple of hundred or so to fix.:fmad:

wise words! if you're already spending money on the car, spend a little bit more and get a nice boost in power!
hopefully, everything's ok
