Hey all lately on my EF i have noticed when tuning the car to on there is a weird sound comin from around the glovebox area maybe. It sounds like a platic ball or something rolling there is nothin in the glovebox and seeing as the car dosent move i dont know why its making this noise. Can you help me out

Is the heater fan on at this point?
I'm thinking maybe something stuck in the fan or intake?

does it happen just after you have started the car? like you crank the engine, it catches and when you release the key, does it happen then? your starter motor bearings may be cactus...

i think it is similar to what you said rollin. But it does happen when turnin the car to on more often that starting it.

so if the engine is off, and you turn the key to the "on" position without starting the motor, does it do it then?

hmm......thats a wierd one...how long does the sound last for? a few seconds? does the car have normal air conditioning or does it have climate control?

its normal aircon and the soud only lasts for a couple of seconds. I was told to crank the aircon up but there arent any noises. Just that one.

take out the fuel pump fuse and see if it does it.

maybe one of the fuel lines are vibrating against the body?

Do you have cruise control, because if I remember correctly the vacuum pump is up behind the glove box in the engine compartment. That may be making the noise when you turn on.
Just a thought.

I have a weird noise too, maybe someone can help me out. my ed is making a noise on startup, reminds me of when the starter motor went in one of my escorts but it only does it when the engine is cold.
