Im currently using Castrol GTX-2 (20W/50) in my car, previously mechanic used Mobil Super S (20W/50) and I think either are fine. Looked at penrite, but didnt think extra cost was worth it on 185,000 km old engine.

Well i used Shell Blue ( ultra? ) last service and 2,000k's later i have a bit of a rattle at start up. ( engine has 111,000k's on it ) I will be changing from the ryco oil filter to a ford parts item JUST to see if it is the culprit. I it isnt, then penrite here I come
Subsequently I voted for Penrite

I use Shell Helix 15W/50, why I don't know really. I mean its a crap box EA so I could probably run pov pack oil. I used to use GTX2 once but don't know why I changed. I'm using a Purolator oil filter but used to use Ryco ones.
My next oil will probably be a 20W/50 cos I'm getting a bit of leakage...

Up till recently I was using the Shell Ultra 10W synthetic oil. I have now changed to the Shell Plus 15W semi-synth oil as my engine is now over 110,000kms and I found the ultra was just too thin for it now.
I use Shell because, after all the oils I've tried, it seems to be the one that "feels" th best in the car.
Filter is a ryco however I have now been shown the Purolator filters and they will be the default from now on. Thanks Bluedriver!
Engine is the AU I6 VCT.
Only oil I dont like is Castrol. I tried it once and got rid of it after 2000kms as it was crap IMHO.
Can I ask why people think Castrol is Crap?? I honestly cant see the difference from mobil to Castrol in my engine, it goes in clean, comes out dark. Engine feels exactly the same, what is people's reasoning?

I didnt like Castol as, after 2000kms is was like water, felt "wrong" and the engine sounded "wrong". Was just a gut feel but I feel that Shell oil in 100% better than Castrol.
