red line

EASY!

put your boot in while its out of gear, and see where it stops!

:)

Second thoughts, maybe not such a good idea!

Its 4500Rpm when in Drive, and 5000 rpm when in '1' '2' '3'

I think in Neutral it will keep reving till its spits a rod

It should be changing gear at 5000Rpm, not surging.

rev limiter

On my mates EA s pak with the 3.9 and 5speed he has pulled it thru to around or just under 6000 rpm and hit what he thinks is the rev limiter ( engine has a bit of a fit), yes he is a madman and yes he has now rebuilt the engine twice in 2 years. My old eb with the 4 speed auto used to pull into the redline (above 5000) when it was locked into 1st or 2nd but i was never keen enough to know what it would pull to...

MY NB also cuts out at 199 km/hr I suspect it's made that way because that's also the limit of the digital speedo. "But officer I was just testing the cutout limit...."

guys, a MPI 3.9 and 4.0lt is limited at 5500rpm and not speed limited (ef onwards are 5750rpm) as for you NB being limited at 199km/h is it the typical speed limiter of the fact that a digi dash cant read any quicker, if you want to know how fast you are going to have to keep resetting the average speed on the trip computer.
