Hey guys happy new year. I have a Eb Falcon, with 225,000kms on the clock and over the past say 2 months its been slowly and slowly loosing power, im not getting any thing over 300kms on a tank and thats with highway driving i.e from Penrith to city and Penrith up the coast, and in 5th gear going 110 im struggling to get up hills even with foot flat on floor. You can smell how rich the engine is running, it had a new fuel filter put it not long ago but another thing i noticed is that i had close to no oil left in the engine after only 1.5 months after i serviced it......what could be wrong

did you put oil into the engine after servicing?

well disappearing oil normally happens when piston and oil rings give way, and with 225thou km on the clock it doesnt suprise me too much. have you compression tested the engine yet? might be a good start to trace for faults ...

Yeah I put oil in the engine otherwise it wouldve already blew

compression test? done that yet?

might even be a leaking oil gallery through the headgasket.

For the compression test, and given the k's on your car, do a wet and dry compression test. Like this.
All plugs out, ground out common HT lead. Engine hot. Have a helper, besides cranking on command for you, hold accelerator to the floor whilst taking all readings. Take and record a set of "dry" figures for all cylinders. Then squirt 4 or 5 pumps of oil into each plug hole. Spin engine on the starter to distribute the oil on the bores and rings. Take another set of readings exactly as before. If you find an increase in compressions with the "wet" figures, it would tend to indicate your rings are getting tired. Probably not what you would want to hear, though!
