I have a ex old fleet car ( very cheap ) 97 EL tickford gas as factory.... Now a few things if ppl know ..

Now What I Want To Know 4sure Is

If i Change my Diff ratio (standard) To Something
Like 3.7 or 3.9 What Will It Do To The Cars Computer
Will It Go Into Limp Mode ? And From What i Sort Of Rember Reading In Here That A Camshaft From a
EA cfi Is Bigger Then a EL SO What You Think Do It Or Leave The Standard Cam .. ??

The Only Mods I Have Done To Effect It Is a ED G-Box
And i Have Port Matched The Head To Inlet And Exhaust

If you change the diff I doubt it would harm the computer at all, but it will give an inaccurate speedo reading.
Have you thought about an after market cam?? If your a member of fordmods.com they will grind you a cam for $122, however you will also need to shim the lifters.

A diff ratio won't damage the computer but as the speedo wil be out you may find the gaerbox changing early/late as it will think the car is moving at a different speed than it actually is.

Do it properly and change the speedo geardrive (at the gearbox) to match the diff ratio and correct the speedo.

Changing the diff ratio won't worry the ecu. It will change gears as normal and all will be OK. When the speedo reads 180kmh the speed limiter will stop the car though on petrol but not gas so you may be OK. Remembering that 180 on you speedo will only be 150kmh really with a 3.7:1 diff.

Changing speedo drive gears will correct the speedo but they won't change the 1-2-3 change up speeds so it will rev much higher before it changes gears. With gas probably too high for useful acceleartion and maybe never change out of 2nd gear if you fully correct the speedo which you can't with the drive gears.

EL's respond to all the usual Wade and JMM regrind cams well. swapping stock cams is a waste of time as none of them will give big gains.
