Changing the diff ratio won't worry the ecu. It will change gears as normal and all will be OK. When the speedo reads 180kmh the speed limiter will stop the car though on petrol but not gas so you may be OK. Remembering that 180 on you speedo will only be 150kmh really with a 3.7:1 diff.
Changing speedo drive gears will correct the speedo but they won't change the 1-2-3 change up speeds so it will rev much higher before it changes gears. With gas probably too high for useful acceleartion and maybe never change out of 2nd gear if you fully correct the speedo which you can't with the drive gears.
EL's respond to all the usual Wade and JMM regrind cams well. swapping stock cams is a waste of time as none of them will give big gains.
