XD Distributor conversion
Got an XD 6cyl which had a reluctor distributor, worked no worries.
Thought I would hook up a jaycar kit to it (H.E.I kit), get better performance however the voltage threshold for the reluctor was too low (0.4 volts or something).
So I took a trip to the wrecker and got a points distributor from the old cast head XD's, hooked it up to the kit and all was fine...
Until it started to randomly miss and stall at speed. Took it to the auto-electrician, he put in new bushes and *supposedly* tested it ok. Now when the car idles it misses, and when I release the clutch at low RPM it just about shakes itself to death missing. Ive checked the H.E.I and even disconnected it completely but it still does it.
Rather than spend up big and get a hall effect sensor put into my old reluctor distributor, could I wack in a EA model distributor which already has the hall effect sensor? Or is this a completely different distributor column/mounting?
Any advice appreciated.
