I read the other day that ford had an issue with the dizzy alignment in the XE and XF's before they purchased an alignment instrument. This caused the cam and dizzy to not align properly and wear and destroy dizzy shafts, gears ect.

Has anyone heard of this and therefore what dates of blocks should i steer clear of.. I am going to do a ground up rebuild that will go good, so i dont want something as small as this destroy all my work and money.

Yeah I had this problem on a Cortina that I used to have(80' or 81' model). I went through 3 dizzy gears in about 4 years.

Actually I have been told that the problem may be with the aftermarket cams eating the stock dizzy gear. Basically if you get a crow cam just get their dizzy gear to go with it and it should be fine.

I stripped the dizzy gear soon after installing a mild cam. Fitted the crow cams gear and had no more problems even though the cam was not one of theirs.
