XF EFI Intake

Hey all,
Is there any mods I can do to improve the air intake on my efi XF?
I was thinking of a pod like filter but I'm not sure if it would be possible because of the air flow meter?

Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Good question... Everytime I open the bonnet I look at the intake and wonder just how much grunt there is to be made there - somehow!

You could make something like this, then you could use a pod filter and possibly get some results. I havent tested this out but, it is for sale if its wanted.

I have done this with my XE EFI 250. and have unleashed a fair bit more power.
The way it is done is to firstly rip out all of the factory air ducting back to the throttle body.
Seccondly if there is a gas mixer, make sure it is a right angle type and angle it towards the front of the car. (I have an impco system) if not the first pipe needs to approximate this ( [ ) shape.
Thirdly. go to a turbo of exhaust place, and get some 3" pieces of pipe mandrel bent. The first one into an L shape so that the end points to the right of the engine bay in front of the engine. The other piece has to connect to this and angle down slightly so when the airflow meter connects to the end, it clears the power steering pump etc. and points toward the cavity behind the headlight, this is where your Pod airfilter will sit. you need an adapter like the one MadXF showed, but shorter, mine was made from a piece of sheet galv. and a downpipe fitting.
Make some brackets from sheet aluminium or whatever you have lying around, make sure they're strong though!
you need to extend the cables for the airflow meter, route them past the injectors and to the meter.
Now get the air/fuel ratio adjusted.
I think thats it...

The only problem I can see is that I have a little panel that sits between the AFM and the plastic box that it sits on, and thats where the gas is fed into the system.
Its just a plate with a hole in it and lots of little holes in the middle .

You should be able to bolt the pod adapter straight on to that plate. You may have to get the gas line/s from the converter rerun though. Can you send a picture of it?

Also, try to team the induction up with a good set of extractors and exhaust. Not much good getting stuff into the engine quick, if it cant get back out again. I have Genie headers and a 2 1/4" Lukey exhaust. Gives almost head jerking gear changes (for an auto)

XF died, Now It's a 6-cyl Cortina!
Rear ended 3 times, 4 close calls.
All while I was stationary, still counting the idiots..

Would you believe that I have a brand new 2.5" exhaust with a new walker super turbo muffler sitting in my Dad's barn...for an XD
Now if I only had an XD..
