xf egr valves

hey all
\when i got my falcon the egr valve was blocked off with a pice of aluminium beteen the plennum and the valve itself. it is still like this and i was wondering whether i should unblock it or leave it.

what are the benifits of having it operational

leave it like it is - the XF workshop manual will explain what the EGR is for.

the benefit of it working is that the car (may) pass a strict emissions test

Other than the blank off plate, you can achieve the same effect by putting a ball bearing in the vacuum line running to the valve.

EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation - some exhaust gas is added to the air/fuel mix under certain conditions to reduce emissions...

Can cause trouble with economy and running hot...
