My XF ute absolutley hates being started first thing in the morning. It takes about 4 to 5 attempts to get her started. She kicks over, but not enough to actually start. (I usually pump the accelerator a few times with each turn of the ignition). Once started there is no problem. Any starting from the rest of the day is also ok, starts almost first go.

Have only had the car for a few months, other than the starting problem, it runs well with no problems. I'm not exactly mechanically minded - is this a simple problem? A full tune up ?

If your not mechanically minded I would go the full tune up, but I would say your problem maybe a fuel leak or fuel pressure leak after it has been sitting all night, if you take the top of the air cleaner, and give the accelarator linkage a good squirt, is there fuel there in the morning, or is not squirting any fuel ?
