hi there people i know my fuel pump is faulty its not putting out enough fuel,only like 100mls in 10secs at 1200rpm when i think it should be like double that.and my car never seemed to get enough fuel when going up hills and nearly got stuck in town ,lucky there was another way home with no big hills .

my question is .uninstalling the mechanical feul pump is no prob ,but how do u install it.does the rocker arm of the fuel pump sit on something or can you just slot it in and away you go .

The rocker arm definately needs to go on something or there will be no pumping. It's just a lever for the diaphram to actually pump the fuel. In most cases it rests on a separate eccentric cam on the cam shaft. If you find it's easy to fit then chances are the camis just in the position that put's little movement into the rocker arm - nothing to worry about. Very hard to get the fitting wrong - if the top ot the pump is up & the bolt holes line up well - no worries.

Just undo the bolts and it comes off, just stick it back and do the bolts up, you really cant stuff it up.

The pump runs on an internal cam, pulled the one off my XF when I rebuilt the motor, and then bolted it back on when finished.
