XF Misfiring...Where to Start??

Hey Guys..

Im still trying to chase down a misfire that has plauged my XF Carby since i got it...
On cold startup (first time of the day)..it starts fine..but then starts to misfire...shaking the engine violently, you can feel the entire car shake!
Also under load for the first few minutes it hesitates on acceleration..once its warmed up it still has a misfire at idle...but not as bad as when cold/first startup...as far as i know when warm it dosent misfire under load either..

Car has had new ignition coil/plugs/leads/rotor/dizzy cap....new reconditioned engine recently fitted and still misfires exactly like the old one did..

im stumped?? Could the carby cause it? Im thinking the distributor may have had it..

any ideas??

YES! Finally someone with the same problem as me. Have you had any luck yet? It's not the carb. I've rebuilt mine 3 times and it's still doin it!

Low fuel pressure. Check your filter. Check the flow & pressure.

Try putting hotter plugs into the engine, if that doesn't work yank out the dissy and check the bearings aren't shagged. If they're shagged the shaft will wiggle badly and the trigger rings will catch on each other when you spin it.

My one did this when the plugs were too cold a heat range.

carby's cant cause a misfire, they can cause surging, flatspots and no power. the ignition system of a physical fault can cause a misifre. start at the basics, compression test, make sure u have the firing order right.

did u replace the "ignition coil/plugs/leads/rotor/dizzy cap...." because of the miss or has it started since then?
