confused XG 94' Tickford head onto my 99'XH Longreach?

hey guys i have bought a head and cam out of an XG XR6 which was put into it about 600K's before he wrote it off...

Ive had a look on some sites to try and find a comparison to my stock 99 longreach and this 94 xg xr tickford. Will i get more performance out of the tickford head or coz mine is a later model it would run the same ratios and stuff?

Would it pay me to replace it with the tickford head?

Or should i get the xg head and shave it down to raise my compression before i put it in? Or should i just get work done to my stock head already in my ute???

What will give me best performance?

I replaced the 96DA head and cam on my 96XH with 94DT head and cam a few months ago. You will be surprised at the result, big difference, well worth the effort. A few months prior to that I bolted on a BBM and EL ECU, also well worth the effort.

No, I purchased the head as a reconditioned unit from a wreaker with the XR6 cam, Rocker cover and rocker gear (which is the same as standard anyway). The whole lot cost $50 more than reconditioning my head so it wasn't a tough choice. I did use an AU head gasket though.

good stuff! would you recommend me getting the XR6 head and gettig it shaved to boost my compression or will it make enough of a difference stock? I have been told that a compression of 10.4:1 would really get it going...

Im not looking for huge power just more a bit more than what i have. what should i do?
