xh/ed motor vs ef/el

hi

i have recently purchased an xh ute which apparenty has a tickford head (big t on front of head 94 dt off to the side). my old man has an el falcon futura and i realise that the manifolds are different and the el runs eec5 versys my eec 4. is this the only difference between the 2 engines and is it just a simple matter of swapping the manifold to an el or ef manifold and eec 5 computer to upgrade or is more involved? also was there a difference between the standard manifolds and computers and the xr6 equipment? if any gurus are out there and can help it would be muchly appreciated.

Re: xh/ed motor vs ef/el

Manifolds are a straightforward conversion, but you do need an EL ECU to operate the butterfly in the BBM.

I did this to my own XH.

Rick.

You dont need one, you can get it to work other ways, but the EL ECU is the easiest way.

Re: xh/ed motor vs ef/el

the benifit of the EL ECU over the shift light/rpm swithc method of switching is the changing of the ignition maps by the EL ECU.
