Re: XP engine swap

The old 3.6 was a good conversion. Is there any warries with bigger engine ? A 3.6 with 2v head would be nice and look original sort of..3.6's didn't use cubic #'s due to it being the same as the old 221 w v8...Good stroke ratio on them, rev well !!!

Re: XP engine swap

it already has a 4.1 pre x-flow from an XA i *think* the whole exhaust/intake setup looks pretty horrid, i'm hoping an 4.1 from an XE-XF will fit.. ????

Re: XP engine swap

It'll FIT - but which side of the engine is the exhaust on on the old non-Xflow 250? is it opposite to the crossflow? (ie; to make a xflow look like a non-xflow, would you have to move the exhaust to the intake side, or the intake to the exhaust side, if u get my meaning?)

That could be a bitch getting the exhaust mounted if it's on the wrong side. i doubt the engine will have too many problems fitting, according to some of the american mustang mod sites, the 2 engines are pretty similar.

you may need custom mounts (not TOO difficult), but i'd say crossmember would be fine. You MAY even be able to use the sump from the older engine (common in falcon-cortina engine swaps, if you were sticking a fresh xflow from a falcon donor into a dead 6cyl corty , you'd use the corties sump.), in which case crossmember clearance would definately pose no problem.

I'd reccomend XF vintage EFI 4.1l, and then use carby intake gear on it. If you decided to go EFI, go straight for an E-series motor.
