xr6 cam into 3.9

my lil bro just got his first car a eb fairmont anyway i got an xr6 cam from an eb lying around would there be any hassle putting it in and if so will it affect the over all running of the car and affect timming & computer etc..

Throw it in, turn up the timing to about 14deg BTDC and she should going good.

Hey man, I just put an ED XR cam in my EB 3.9L. I havent asyet
advanced the timing so i think thats where my problems lie. Anyhow she runs alot smoother... not sure about computer mods but u can feel the computer trying to adjust to the airflow as sometimes u feel it pickup ALOT after u floor it. Will need to check out my timing......

i heard that the computer learns or adjusts itself if not might have too source a xr6 unit probably hard to find and worth a fair bit

Did the XR6 have a higher fuel pressure reg compared to std motor?

Yes, it was up 50kpA over the standard unit.
With the standard ECU and pressure regulator, the car should still run fine. She might get a little lean up top, but it's not in the "Danger Range".

An XR regulator with the standard ECU will make the car run richer at low-mid revs, but the extra juice is good for a few kW up top.
