As far as I'm aware they aren't any different. You only really need bigger injectors if you're going for serious power. The power difference between the standard 4L and the XR6 isn't all that great (eg. EB 4L 148kw v's EB XR6 161kw). If you were going to use forced induction or some decent N/A mods that would get you close to 160kw at the wheels (approx. 210 kw at the flywheel), than aftermarket injectors would be required. I'm told Magna injectors flow better than standard Ford injectors, but other than that, you'd need to stear away from car manufacturers. Bosch apparently make very good injectors...
In the case of the EB-ED (not sure able later) the increase comes from using a bigger fuel pump and a higher pressure reg. Its the reg with the red dot on it.
fuel pump is the same EA MPFI ==> EL MPFI, 6+8. Same pump. The pressure is controled by the fuel pressure regulator. 250kpa ea==>d, 275kpa V8 + EF/L I6, 300kpa =xr6.
