Just wondering if any XR6T owners intend on changing the BOV on their turbo's plumbing, that is if there is any aftermarket BOV's that would in fact increase performance or make that famous sneeze noise.
Sneezing, as you call it is not always just something to laugh at, it is also sometimes required if you plan on having a great car, as opposed to a good car.
Yes but a BOV can be plummed so its almost inaudiable. The "supersonic" ones are just for showing off / look at me value...
Ask me, i coudlnt think of anything more annoying than driving a car that continually made that noise!
But thats me...

how so? i thought that plumbing back the BOV return line instead of fitting a trumpet to it, made no difference to the performance of the engine. If anything it will reduce the power as the EFI system may not like loosing its air that its already measured and supplied fuel for!
BOV's have a purpose but BOV's with trumpets are for the driver and his mates to think they are hero's generally! Screamer pipes on a wastegate on a street car are of the same thing!

Totally agree.
The only difference between a BOV that goes pfffft and one that is silent is, one vents to atmosphere and the other vents back into the air intake.

I wish you saw that XR6T . Phantom with GT like wing, three letters plate number, aftermarket huge exhaust, Massive no less than 265 rear tyres! It was nothing to laugh at!! Gorgious!

not to mention also illegal here in victoria (the ones that vent the gas into the atmosphere). The EPA have outlawed them claiming them as dispersing unfiltered gases into the atmosphere.

What have u guys got against BOV noises? personally I like it. The EPA's stance seems a little ridiculous given some of the complete s*@t boxes getting around Melb bealcing blue soke etc... although maybe i am not looking at the full picture. Although i thought it was the noise factor that made then illegal.
