ive heard of it being done but nevr seen a car with one on any ideas on how to or price for parts greatly appreaciated

well for ease of fittment to your ED I6 (I assume) you would be better off fitting a snorkel from an XH Ute, should cost about 37 bucks and fitting a K&N panel filter. It is all very easy and takes less than 10 mins. See below, old intake is sitting on new.

V8 snorkle wont fit an ED6.
EA/D six snorkel is flat, and enters the top of the airbox.
EB/L V8 snorkel enters the lower part of the airbox, the same as the EF onwards Six cylinders.
