Zorst on the cheap.....

I want to make my exhaust sound a little gruntier than the stock one, but unfortunately I'm a poor poor student and I want to do it cheap as

Just wondering, what do you guys think is the best method of doing this? At the moment, because of my financial situation, a fancy 2.5" system is out of my budget so I'm not too interested in making a performance gain with it. I'm thinking of cutting out the biggest muffler and replacing it with a resonator pipe (hot dog). How do you guys think this will sound?

I'm after a beefy sound that wont be too annoying on the highway but will sound nice and grunty with I give it heaps. Any ideas?

I have access to welders at tech so labour isnt a problem.

Re: Zorst on the cheap.....

Unfortunately I live in this crap hole of an island they call New Zealand where everything in the automotive trade is overpriced. The best quote I could get for a 2.5" system (no brand name) was $450.

Like I said, all I want is a nice sound, something louder than the sissy standard exhaust note. I am sure this can be done with a standard exhaust system minus a couple of mufflers.

Anyone here tried doing it this way?

Re: Zorst on the cheap.....

Okay, today I removed the front straight through muffler (the small one) and noticed very little difference. Tomorrow I will remove the rear muffler, and if that's not loud enough I will removed the middle muffler (the big one) and weld in a hot dog where the middle one was and a small hot dog into the rear.

I'm determined to make my Falcon sound good for less than the cost of a full system
