Took the heads off yesterday and today got them checked out. The Seals are so far gone they pretty much fell out with the valves. Springs are only about half as strong as they should be etc etc. $800 for a rebuild... Should I rebuild replace or upgrade. What are the differences like in price etc???

Unless it is a seriously worked engine, I can not see the point of buying better heads when you can get very good power with the stock ones. $3500-unlimited for these complete upgrade heads, you would have to be at the stage of counting each hp increase to warrant such a large price.
What does the $800 include, valves, springs, retainers, cc'd?
What do you use the car for?

Daily driver project. Bottom end was rebuilt 2500 ago so I'd be silly to back out now. $800 includes everything. Valves springs retainers seals grind. By the sounds of that Ill stick with stock and get em done. Nice one, cheers.

Should I bother with a new cam or any other minor changes while she's in pieces or am I wasting my time???

If it were me, i'd be patient and wait for some good worked over heads to come up in the trading post rather then spend $800 reconditioning standard heads.

Then get a new cam to match the new worked over heads. :)

Replace the timing chain while your at it with a roll master if it hasn't already been done.

Nah cant wait, its been 24 hours already and all I wanna do is drive it. With factory heads what cam should I go for or should I leave that stock to??? Prices???
