Question 302 Carter

Hi there, im trying to find some info on a Carter 2bbl carb fitted to my XB 302c. The car is a 1976 XB 302 fairmont sedan(88,000 original km's), just bought it last week . I cannot find any info about this carby in my factory XB/ZG workshop manual, which is a pain in the ass because all the car needs is a kit through the carb. According to the factory manual it should have a 2bbl WW stromberg fitted, but it is clearly stamped Carter and looks totally different to the pictures of the ww stromberg. Does anyone know if the carter 2bbl carbs where used on the XC 302's?
Because of the car being late 1976 im hoping the info will be in a XC factory workshop manual. Can anyone one with a factory manual confirm this?
It also has a water heated base under the carb which i have never seen before??? Pics below >

That would be great. Are you sure it's the same? Mine is a pollution model hooked up to a charcoal canister.

Re: 302 Carter

Thanks for that CJR09! That is pretty much the same except for the pollution spout. So it came out of a XA book? Ford make life hard some days. They must have used the old XA type carb and modified it to meet smog regulations in 76, how confusing.

LOL, thats my beach towel! I used it to cover the back seat, i was working on it yesterday for the whole day out in the sun. Im a bit parinoid about the interior, it's still in mint condition. My mates have been banned from drinking or smoking within a 2 mile radius of it .

Re: 302 Carter

Ok looked at it properly and it's the exact same carb as mine. So it would seem my carb is a "Email Carter BBD".
Sorry, i was confused before, i thought my carb was a pollution model because it had a vapour hose running to a charcoal canister, LOL. I was under the impression that the earlier model XB's and XA's did not have charcoal canisters and the vapour hoses, but obviously this is incorrect.
Still got me buggerd why this XA "Email Carter BBD" carby is on my 76 XB Fairmont? My engine number matches the chassis number and everything looks original. Maybe Ford used up some old motors or carb setups?
