302c cam choice

Hi All,

Am interested in your coments on this scenario.

302c stock bottom end
Heads heavily ported/polished large 4v valves fitted and chambers (close chamber aussie 2v heads) relieved slightly for pump gas.
street torker inlet + 600 holley
Have this cam lyeing here - blue racer 972866 = lift int = 536 lift ext = 563
dur @ 0.05 int = 224 ext = 234

I know this is a pretty aggresive cam for a 302, but another member here ran one xb351? and had good results but using stock heads too i think.

Would you guys run this cam? I was thinking of using the crane hi intensity lifters with it to make it more streetable down low

Should I just go out and get a smaller cam?

Funilly enough most people who use the hi intensity or rhoads style lifters seem to love the effect, those who don't seem to have has trouble adjusting the valve train, so I just don't know. Any comments or help appreciated

Hi Ben, to wake that engine up your better off putting 351 crank and rods, or 351 crank and special pistons and use your 6" 302 rods. Then that cam u have will be fine. Putting that cam and heads with the 4v valves on a 302 will totally kill any bottom end, save the extra few hundred $ and stroke her. Ive even got a 4ma crank you can have cheap.

Releived chamber for pump gas? With only 302 cubes under it, there would be no need to drop compression for pump gas. You would be flat out having 9.5:1 as it is??
