302c Carby/Manifold/Header Qs
Hi all,
I'm new here, so Just a quick intro......Jamie's my name, from the Blue Mts near Sydney. I've just picked up a '74 XB 302 2V 4-door. I've always wanted an old Falcon V8, and I got this one from my grandfather-in-law who bought it new. It's been sitting in a garage for 10 years, has an easy 90,000miles on it and is in reasonable nik. The motor runs OK (no smoke, noise or leaks), but the carby needs a rebuild.
I've gutted the body and sent it away for some rust and a paint job (mmmm, Blueprint), and I'll clean the motor up while the car's away. I can't afford a full rebuild right now, and the motor seems pretty good, so I just want to get it running smoothly.
A few questions...
Currently it's running a Stromberg. It needs a rebuild, but is it worth it? Would I be better off replacing it with a Holley or Carter? If so, which one? The 302 is dead stock and will remain that way for some time.
If I go for a 4BBL, I'll also need a few inlet manifold recommendations.
And last, I'll put some headers & a dual system on it so I'd love some advice on brand for them too.
All advice appreciated.
