Re: 351 or 460

engine mounts,,exhaust,,radiator & hoses,,trans,,needs a c6,,and maybe tailshaft, probly lots of other little things, cables etc.

My freind has a 460 in his 77 short wheelbase effy,,,i dont think you could build a 351 that would beat this thing,

it has a detroit locker diff and 3.01 gears and it beats many a v8 falcon and comandore thats for sure,,

an early engine is the go i think the early engines had 500 ft pounds std.

do some research on 460 comp ratios and cyl heads it made all the difference to there outputs.

You would have to change your sig from f100 for ploding along to something else though:-)

I'll stick with the with idea of a fresh 351. it's a work ute and i wouldn't be able to cough up the funds for all the goodies that go with a full change over.

A 351C that is built as a tow engine (ie cam to suit low-RPM torque and not too high on the comp ratio) would be fine.

Re: 351 or 460

Hi mate,

Bob Campbell Racing Engines in Malaga. He is absolutely fantastic. He won't bulls*!t you. If it needs it, he will tell you. He is also fairly cheap and quick compared to others. He acid bathed, honed & fitted cam bearings including bearing to my block, linished my crank for $180. He is also been around the speedway/ performance game forever. (My mate's dad raced with him.) Cant rave about him enough.
My 2c worth. Hope it helps...

Re: 351 or 460

Though I haven't used Bob yet, I've never heard a bad thing about him in 18 years. I'll be going to him next, especially now since he's moved to Malaga, as I live next door in Ballajura.

You need torque with the F100. Talk to Bob about stroking your 351.

I'd also consider converting it to LPG.
