i would like to know any tips 4 replacing the 'rope' rear main on my clevo....

i've asked a few mech mates and they seem to think that rope seals are v/hard to fit?

its all apart ..i'm reaDY to go but i don't know wtf i'm doing

any tips would b great..

Absolute pain in the arse!!!! I had to do one on my brothers crapadore a fews weeks back. My tip is to get someone else to do it!!!

use a rubber seal and save yourself heaps of drama

i didnt think rope rear mains were still made for them??
the last couple of clevelands ive built have had the rubber seal and have had no dramas, or leaks. (yet)

Dont forget to punch out the little pin in the bearing cap before installing the rubber seal....

What brand are the rubber ones?

Both local auto parts dealers don't list them and say theres no such thing. I'm sure I saw them in a mag a couple of years ago even one where h\you did not have to remove the crank to replace it but can't find the mag.

I'd imagine most kits would have the ruuber ones, but I know for sure FelPro do. The rubber ones create less drag than the rope jobs too!

As well as knocking out the little pin,also offset the ends of the seal when you fit it..The ends of the seal should not be flush with the main cap when fitted.
