Are asking if 302/351 XD/E oil pumps are the same as XA/C?; this is true.
The common reason for the pump to sieze or jam is the umbrella valve stem seals go hard and brittle with age and then break up. The small sections are very hard and some can manage to fit past oil pickup screen and create havoc with small oil clearance in the pump. I have seen quite a few with twists( ie 2 or 3 full rotations - but pump must have cleared itself) in the pump drive shaft as well as some totally broken. If this is the case you will find bits of old umbrella seals in the sump as well as scores in the main/rod bearing shells.
