under the right hand manifold is D2AECA and under that is 2K26 on the front of the motor is it's either JC3APY or JG34PY and under that is 62278K.

Dunno about the rest of it, but JG34PY means:
J - Ford
G - Broadmeadows plant (VIC)
34 - Fairmont
PY - Feb 1974
So it's an engine from an XB Fairmont, which usually means a 302 with 2v heads and (probably) a 2-barrell intake. Money's on a 302, not a 351. Best way to check this is:
1. Remove a spark plug and measure the stroke on one cylinder. From BDC to TDC, 3" means 302 and 3.5" means 351.
2. Take the sump off and look at the crank itself. It'll either have 302 or 351 stamped on the left side of one of the forward counter-balance castings.
