In my view a stroked version is awesome, big block torque as well as the clevo revability. Best of both worlds.

The clevo heads also really suit a bigger stroke and one of their limitations such as uneven inlet/exhaust flow ratio gets evened out with more stroke, so the motor really comes alive.

Go the stroker, but with a bigger cam than F260.

Forgot to say that strokers suit a bigger cam than that, the same cam in a stroker doesn't feel as big as it would in a 351.

thanks would you say a f260 crane cam would work well or something smaller, also how much more torque would you say over a 351+30?

An F246 cam in a stroker would behave cam wise like a 260 in a 351.

I wouldn't go any less than a F246 in a stroker unless it was in a tow vehicle. You get more torque than what just the extra capacity suggests you would because of the above reasons.

I assume you mean the other way around STROKEXD.
If i have to do another shortblock i would choose a 393 stroker.
For what you want to do with the smaller stall/gears, the F246 would probably suit better, and also more streetable compression. Set up good, it would walk a 12 sec pass in easily.

Nah that's the way I meant it. A cam that will make a 351 have a lopey idle and soft low end response will feel smaller in a stroker clevo ie better idle and better low down response.

Re: 378 or 393 stroker cleveland

Effectively a big cam for a 351 is a small cam for a stroker. As the effective working rpm is lowered with a stroker. For example an F246's working range is 3800-7000. In a stroker thats 3300-6500.

I'd look @ the F260. F246 is fine if you stayed 351 but would also make a stroker that has reasonable rpm. If you went the F246 I'd look @ a 4000 stall and 3.7's may work nicely. I am a bit iffy on the gears but with the extra torque they'll more than likely be fine. Probably could go lower in the stall but I wouldn't. I run a similar cam to an F246 (same working rpm). I've used a 3500rpm histall and it bogged on launch. I switched to a 4500rpm histall and it's a different car now.

If you didn't run a 12 I'd seriously be wondering whether you where eating a cut lunch while racing instead of just racing. Should be enough to run 10-11sec easy enough.

Re: 378 or 393 stroker cleveland

a 378 hands down.

anything bigger than a 3.85 stoke crank in a standard block will give you nightmares. too much weight.

Even with the 3.7 stoke I would use 2 bolt, with ARP studs and dowel them.

With the F246 on mobil premium it will be a nice deal.
