4 Bolt main caps/Stroker build help

Peeps a really dumb question.
Do any of you off hand have the measurements from the centre line of the main cap to the centreline of bolt 1 and bolt 2 on a Clevo?
Do any of you know what the quality of Pro line caps sold by Flatlander Racing are like? Is it worthwhile getting cap 1 and 5 as well or is 234 sufficient? The reason for thinking in the region of 4 bolt mains follows-
The eventual application will be a 393 stroker using 6.125 chevy rods with Arias or SRP forged pistons 302CC heads with roller rockers single groove TRW and Sealed Power valves hydraulic cam 218/228 using NOS Sniper kit. Yes I will be using Main studs, ARP rod bolts and head studs. What else should I look at?
Here a 4 bolt main block is like a Unicorn everybody has heard of them but nobody has seen one
Thanks guys

Whats this engine going in?Street car ,Drag car?.Sounds like a pretty weird setup you have planned. You have an engine totalling near 400 cubes and plan on topping it with 302 closed heads which are too small really for an engine that size. I,m basing this on the fact that you are looking at fitting the caps which would have us think that you plan on twisting it relatively hard.It will certainly build good low down torque but will run out of puff especially with that cam you have chosen.Unless of course you plan on towing primarily.I,d look at the c/ratio as well .393 cubes and small chambers may put you in racing fuel territory.Sounds to me that it would fall flat on its face after 4500 rpm.

Re: 4 Bolt main caps/Stroker build help

Let's start with the the heads I'm looking at CHI's 3V218 head with their manifold and gaskets to suit with a Edelbrock Thunder series 800cfm carb right now their (CHI)price is about 26000 ZAR landed so it will take awhile before I can get them.
The cam is a Summit #5201 adv duration of 276 286 which will eventually make way for a mechanical cam. Suggestions would be welcome.
Lifters I was thinking one of these Erson, Comp cams, Crower or Crane. Suggestions or experiences you guys have had.

The engine is going into a lowered 74 F100 Stepside with 3.9 to 4.2 rear end ratio using a 9 inch. The 302 heads are being ported as we speak so for the time being that should help. The nitrous setup is being taken into consideration now but will only be installed when I have the CHI heads and manifold. The car will be for 1/4 mile and the occassional street use.

Question with max 7000 rpm usually 6000 rpm will it be necessary to go the way of 4 bolt mains? Cost is once more a consideration as these caps will set me back about 7000ZAR. The reason I was thinking along those lines was because of the Nitrous.

Transmission is also still an unknown I have C6 and can get an AOD-E and a 4EOD. Here suggestions would also be welcomed.

Thanks for the reply Russ.
More will follow but please guys I need help and guidance here especially the stroker heads combo's are new territory to me

I think either the CHI 218 or AFD 4v are more along the lines of what you need.As far as cam selection goes I would be looking at a custom grind from Comp cams or similar. The cam you have chosen is an off the shelf unit and will not suffice in an engine combo like this.I would use a cam like that in a mild rebuild of a 351 not a nitrous fed 393 clevo .Aftermarket cam companies can take all of your particular details into account and grind a cam to suit.Sure it may cost more but when you are spending that much anyhow it will make little difference to the overall cost. I have no experience with edelbrock carbs so i can,t say whether they are good or not.My personal selection would be a holley .They are a proven piece of equipment.4 bolt aftermarket caps will certainly be better than any factory piece. You have to weigh up how much these will cost and the associated machining costs that go with fitting these items. The bottom line here is the cleveland block will eventually break if you lean on it hard enough.Bore thickness is not a strong point and nitrous is going to put more stress on the bores.Ultimatley an aftermarket Dart block would be the best option as these will put up with far more abuse than a factory block. At the very least you should verify bore thickness on any clevo block especially one that is to be used for such an application.Personally i would choose an aftermarket block for such an application. From memory bore thickness is around .250 thou on a Dart block and comes with 4 bolt caps.Factory blocks are much thinner.
