xbgs351 just help him with your opinion on cooking with gas !!! Scat 4.0 crank + pistons + rods + gas setup sounds very expensive. How bout a 460 instead ??? Might be cheaper to build and be more efficient in the long run and not need gas unless u specifically want to use LPG ???

Personally I don't like the idea of a big block. Too wide, tall and heavy.
If you have got the bucks for the crank why not??. To make this all worthwhile (ie: just not a 400cu standard clevo ) then yiou are going to be making a fairly wild motor and I would be checking that the gas mixers will have enough flow.
A 460 is a bit easier but you have problems with rego that you can't hide like you can by stroking a cleveland. I have seen big blocks in XDs before but I believe it's a tight fit, unlike the XA-C falcons.
as some of use have mentioned the big block but as i am on my p's im staying away and im not really a fan i would like some reccomendations on cam heads and so forth i would like this to be a fairly potent motor so stage 3 or so cam at the moment got 4vcc heads so whether to keep them dont have the biggest of budgets but whatever you guys recomend
If your in Melbourne (might be Syd) try finding Ivan Walker or Russell Jones. They swear by 4Vs and work on the exhaust hump. Get a cam to wake it up at 3500/4000 rpm where 4vs seem to slow. Std intake about 500hp potential. LPG, Hi-Comp should be good. Good Luck.
