I have a 1973 Mustang Mach 1 with a 408 Cleveland. 4.030 Probe Industries forged pistons, Hawks Racing 4340 crank with 6" Chev H-beam rods, and Comp Cams Pro Magnum roller rockers 1.7 ratio. Studded mains and studs for head. Car is roughly 3700 pounds. TCI Super Streetfighter C6 with Hughes 3000 rpm stall converter. 3.70 gears with 26 inch tires. I am trying to decide between the CHI 225cc and 185cc heads. I am leaning towards the 225cc versions with matching manifold. The compression is subject to the thickness of the head gasket I choose, but I am shooting for about 10.7:1. I am going to use a hydraulic roller Comp Cam. I am trying to find the best head and cam for serious street use. I would like to shoot for 575-600 horse at the flywheel along with a good torque curve. Max rpm of 6500-6700. What cam would you recommend? I have come along way to screw up on the final part of the build!

Fire off and email to John @ CHI. He'll suggest a suitable cam. I'm not in the know with hyd rollers to suggest one. With the 225's you should make 500+ftlbs torque and max power around 6800ish depending on the cam. In Aust here a company called Pavtek does 393's with solid flat tappets, 218cc and 225cc chi heads (590+hp and 500+ftlbs torque). These engine tend to make max power around 6800. I don't see you having an issue achieving your goals with a 408ci engine.
