What do you guys reckon a pair of 4V recon Heads from a phaseIII GTHO are worth??? I,ve checked the casting numbers and they come up as sept 1970.
Heads have also been crack tested.

If the casting dates are correct and heads in good nick I would pay anywhere up to $2000.00 AUD. Been searching for some good ones for a while so let me know if you want to sell.

First off how do you know they're from a phase 3? 4V heads are worth $1-2000 depending on condition.
If anyone is looking for a set ive got 2 sets forsale.

sept 70 casting date is too late for a phase3, they would be correct for a xa though up to 5th or 6th month 72 production date of the actual car that is.

is it really that important? The numbers on the 4v's are all covered once on the motor anyway..!!!!!!

It is important if you're restoring a car with correct dated parts, and to claim a set of heads are phase 3 is almost impossible to prove because they're identical to all other 4V heads bar some machining and the date codes.
Phase 3's used the same 4V heads as the other 4V GT's did, they just modified them for the adjustable rocker gear.

Im aware of the machining differences,but everything has to be matching,then don't paint vehicle in twopack paint or make it to perfect in its condition either,all cars from that era were not that well finished anyway.

The 4 dot is second generation 4V's , to late for a XY .

Yes, 4 dot heads are the second generation of castings however the early 4 dots were cast in late 1970 and there was a small batch of Phase 3's with 4 dot headed engines, not sure how or why but they did exist, albiet in small numbers.
