just needin a camshaft recomendation....


'72 4v open chamber
750 VS
edelbrock performer
headers
msd ignition
C-6, 2000 stall
going to add 3.89 gears
stock bolt down pedastal rockers
springs are 110 seat, 330 open..already on the car with stock cam installed...


so what do you guys think??

sounds ok the open chamber is going to hurt ya alittle, 9.5 with open chamber heads put ya @ 8.- 8.5 to 1
I run closed, 526/ comp cam,hyd,2800 stall c6,4.11 72 torino spt 4150lbs with driver, 14.94 @92mph 6000 air, bandimere trap rpm 5800 i will spin 1st and 2nd to 6500. 18 year old motor dial 15.1 and ran 5 rounds 15.105 thru 15.14 all day!!!!!! 6th round was 14.94. Comp ratio 10.3 to 1 heads cut 20,block 0 deck hieght, 100 over push rods

yeah I just recently decided to go with 4.11 gears today cause the car is fairly heavy ('72 mustang mach 1) and several builders convinced me. We only have a 1/8th mile track here and with a 600 cfm edelbrock and a stock tranny and stall it ran consistant 9.2's at around 75mph...crossing the line in 2nd at 5000.

I have a 750VS speed demon, TCI streetfighter C-6 tranny, and a 2000 stall on it now so I hope that I have broken into the 8's.

eventually I plan on making up for the low compression with a small shot of nitrous, like only a 50 or 75 shot.

If anyone else has some cam recomendations they are more than welcome.

stock pistons?, i would'nt recommend NOS the cam you have spec'd will work with your combo, the 526 come is @ 2500 to 6500. for wht it worth.

other people on this forum have informed me that the stock cast pistons will hold up just fine with a small shot.

well to each his own, I believe in building safe dependable HP, sooner or later your gonna wish you had some forged fat tops in there. but whatever, evidence by the 18yr old motor, good luck.
