8'' diff to 9'' change over - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Has any be through the process of fitting a 9'' diff into a xy, I have just brough a complete 9'' disc brake diff out of a ZH.
I have been told that there is 75mm differance across the width of the diff compared to the 8'' with 2'' drum brakes.
As far as it go for wheels the plan is to go for simmons with a off set to compersate for the extra wheel base.
Would anyone out there comfirm this is the way to go or just get diff shorten

Unless you do the shorten your self the wheels are much cheaper

wouldnt be anything at all wrong with the extra offset so long as it does not interfere with the caliper. I agree with the last post that the wheels would be cheaper than the mods to narrow one. I have over 1200.00 in a narrowed 9" not counting the gears.
