hey guys
its time for me to get rid of my shitty diff and gears! I know this should go else where, but this forum gets most of the ford/9"/cleveo fans go through pretty much everyday.
Can you guys help me on where I can find a housing that has been setup for coil springs to be used in an XE Falcon.
also what parts make up a good 9"?
the housing, centre, axles... what else etc... I am thinking 3.5 LSD centre.
as you can see I have no real experience in building diffs. I am hoping someone makes the housing all the time. then i can just buy the other parts to match.
I know superoo spares makes them but its $1200 just for the housing and I already hate the business enough without having to go there again to be stuffed over.again.
ROFL : don't use them. They did Lee's wagons diff and the didn't put the axle bearings on all the way. My dad had to file down the axles due to their dodgey welding. Then fit new bearings as the bearings they fitted was trashed to being fitting them to an axle that was too big for the bearing.
Buy any LSD diff, buy your parts from Supa Trik for $500. Pay someone $200 to put it together. Housing an axles add $500 (it'll be less).
I am looking to do this pretty soon, but everyone is giving me prices I am not going to pay.
what would you guys pay for a 9" that is disc to disc, reco 3.5 or 3.7 LSD centre. 28 spline. holding up to around 450-500hp's at motor?
I am getting quoted things like $2800 etc when I am not going to do it unless its under $2000 for sure! as I am not smashing that many borg's just yet!
Your price hike is your spring rear end. Most 9" diffs were designed for a leaf sprung car. About $2800 drive in and out isn't bad.
A 9" LSD disc to disc 3.5->4.5 sells for $1000 and upwards secondhand. When I had my 3.5 LSD disc - disc rear advertised. I got plenty of people who wanted it for $1000. I ended up doing it for mates rates as my mate put his hand up for it 1st. Mates rates was cheaper of course
yeah it looks like I am gunna hve to pay the 2500+ quotes or look at something else. getting a 2nd hand 9" isnt really an option unless they hav been set for springs, or else I am really just buying 2nd parts to a diff.
is there a borg that can handle 450HP at the motor type stuff?
4 pinion 3.5:1 ute/panelvan diff will do it. I'm pretty sure XE/F sedan may have the right ratio. Not sure about LSD though. They seem strong my mates ran one behind decent powered clevelands. Nothing under 160rwkw and upto 212rwkw for roughly 7-9 years.
