whats a 9 inch lsd complete center worth with new clutches and bearings but crappy gears
also does the pinion drive on the long (angled )face or shortface on the crown
i think short face but im assured its the angled

I just had a centre rebuilt with new gears I supplied 3.89-1 with fibre clutches was about $350 inc new bearings and gaskets!

When you say "crappy gears" do you mean they are damaged, or just a "crappy" ratio like 2.75?

re the long/short face. Are you talking about the drive/coast sides of the teeth?
Looking at the crown wheel the drive side is the teeth that stand up close to vertical. The coast side is layed over on a angle.

As for price, 9 inch centers seem to vary dramatically, but I've seen them sell on www.trademe.co.nz in that sort of condition anywhere from $400 - $900.

i thought that was the driven side - you just couldnt argue with this dick though

the crown gear is pitted / corroded , i had no problem running them , but not the best looking when it comes to selling the center

Cost of gear sets is dependant on ratio. 2.75:1 can be bought of pretty well any diff shop in good condition for $50. 3.00:1 are more desirable and are around $100-150 roughly. the numerically higher ratios ie 3.25, 3.50, 4.11 pull a lot more cash. I am referrring to factory ford gear sets. The aftermarket variety are often known for noisy gearsets which is why the factory gears are so desirable.
