my 1970 mustang has a 3 core downflow radiator,kinds squarish shape,i'm sure its the same as or same dimentions as 6 cylinder falcons of XY XA era.
i wish to open up the radiator surrond and fit a wider crossflow radiator,and hopefully some twin EL or AU fans or similar. am currently running a 16inch which is not up to the job.do not wish to refit the engine fan.

what radiator fits the twin fans best? should i look at a certain model,XA,B,C or XD,E ?
is there basicaaly 'six' and 'V8' radiators for these vehicles or specific types.
looking for good used or reasonable priced new,cannot afford custom or trick jobs as nice as it'd be.
is 2 core the usual for these?
and most of all will this help cool the clevo?

does anyone have dimentions for any of these radiators?

Just make sure you measure between the chassis rails to get the correct width,I bought one out of a xb 4 core heavy duty for my 69 and wouldn't fit between the rails wich caused it to sit to high to close the bonnet.
Aussie dessert coolers do a 4 core to suit the mustang still a downflow was cheaper than the quote i got to recore mine.Hope this helps.

yes thanks that helps alot because i was close to buying a good cond but used xa falcon heavy duty radiator and seeing how it goes but i'll gladly take your advice. do you recall what you paid for the desert cooler? are you happy with it? does it retain all the original dimensions ?
are you using engine fan or electric?

Sorry can't remember price,i'm running an engine fan with shroud and keeps temp at 160 all the time traffic and all.351 20th over closed chamber heads,But have a look on web site for price or have a look in parts peddler they advertise in there.

Some people will shake their heads at me for going the opposition route.

Nonetheless, I have bought a (new) vt-vx 5.7litre manual aluminium 3-core radiator and matching twin thermo fan assembly to go in my xc ute to cool the 351

the radiator cost $195
the fans $125

all on e-bay

won't have it all hooked up for a while, so can't let you know how it goes,

but food for thought

thanks 69FB, yes wax dimensions would be great,thats the kinda thing i'm after, something available off the shelf for a reasonable price and hopefull with matching fan assemble.
are the hose outlets on the right sides, and right diametres?

Dimensions of cooling area is 680 x 435 x 35 mm

overall radiator dimensions are 790 x 460

with cooling fans fitted the whole arrangement is 160 mm thick

the inlet and outlet diameters are 34 mm

the inlet is top drivers side
the outlet bottom passengers side

be aware, there's no radiator cap. There's two lines (one in, one out) that need to be connected to an overflow tank. I saw one of these tanks on ebay for $10 second hand.

thanks for the dimensions.will measure up, i think that might suit me better than xa onwards jobs,but would probably push into my battery area. now wheres that tape measure....
good idea though and the prices are good too
