auto rubber kits

hey guys. I know this isnt the section for this thread but probably the only area which has the most ppl who hav restored cars.
i'm the middle of restoring my xb falcon sedan and was wondering if anyone knows of some one other than rarespares and the gt shop who does rubber kits for cars, i need the lot all window glass seals and pinchweld seals plus dust seals and clips for the inside of the doors. any help or links would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: auto rubber kits

Don't use Bill thompsons or rarespares. The rubbers don't fit properly. I ripped the one off my driverside. It gave me the shits as the door never shut properly. It shut perfectly prior to the rubbers being fitted.

Apparently fomoco.com.au and the grand tourer ones are good? I'm looking to replace all of mine also. Preferably with ones that fit :)

Re: auto rubber kits

Well brenx i got a quote off rarespares and they want like about $1035 for their kit made in usa, they do a cheaper version made in china, didnt get a quote on that 1, but the original ford kit which is factory and still available. The GT shop wants $1080, which to me seems much better value than the rarespares kit.

Re: auto rubber kits

send me an email and I'll send you a pic of how bad the door seals on the rare spares and bill thomspons XB sedan seals are. brenx@internode.on.net

When I bought mine. I bought 90% of a full kit less the rear window rubber and boot seal. That was really stupid of me because most of it fits like crap. One day I'll get rubbers that will pass as factory original as rarespares and bill thompson ones are nothing like the originals.

there r 2 types of v8 starter motors, the ones wif the remote starter solenoid and the ones wif the solenoid attached any difference or prefences out there. I hav the one wif the remote solenoid, its just got a lil bit more wiring to it if i can find one wif the soleniod attached i mite consider it to keep it all a bit neater. any thoughts?

Re: auto rubber kits

I think the one with remote solenoid is better but the ones with the solenoid on them do there job well. They are also identical in every way apart from the solenoid to 6cyl starter.

I run one with the solenoid attached. It sometimes has trouble turning my 11.5:1 comp, 28 deg timed engine. It only has trouble when its on the topend of a compression stroke though. That doesn't happen very often.

The one with the solenoid is much neater
