Yes, but most of them were 260s and smaller! You're not as likely to find them around these days, either. The 6-bolt bellhousings (and blocks) are much more plentiful here. Of course, with Japan buying so much scrap, it won't be long before the Clevelands are all gone too!

Re: bolt pattern?

1965 was the changeover from 5 to 6 bolt. My 1965 "x" was factory 5 bolt, but i have since converted to six. Incidenty, the toploader bolt pattern is also different between 5 and 6 bolt.

All Clevelands and 99.9% of Windsors are identical 6 bolt

There is no such thing...at least that is the official statement. My own guess would be that it is an early 289 upgraded with a 302 rotating assembly.

The best bet for a 5-bolt block would be to source a new block and rebuild it using a 6-bolt block rather than trying to find a 5-bolt bellhousing.

strange.....302w out of a zd fairlane the input shaft to the tranny was broken and thats when i found the later model c4's had 6 bolt bell housings they also had larger dia shafts too so the convertor was no go as well.
