Hey all

here I have a quote from precise automatics for a C4;

Can you guys have a look through the quote and comment on; price, things that might be missing and what your thoughts on precise are...

One thing i noticed thats missing is a deep pan for starters. anything else you guys would use?

and now for the hard to guess part, how much motor hp will this thing take, approx?

I am looking into getting this precise box and a DiffTechics diff very soon, I will do the same thing with my diff quote soon as I dont want to miss something, anything.

also is C6 an option in an XE Falcon?

Hi Pracy,
for way less than $400 you can import 6 Pinion planetary set from the USA.

you increase by 100% the load it can handle, not increase by 30% like a 4 pinion planetary.

Price looks about right. It aint mates rates but its in the ballpark. That should hold your engine easy enough. I'm pretty sure I've still got details regarding the box's I was quoted for. I'll PM your the parts list and prices.

Quotes I got to hold my engine was $2500+ and no guarantee it'd hold.

Good luck getting a written quote from DiffTechnics... I spoke to Con a couple of months ago and he said $3000 to $5000 and could not give me a quote on paper, or tell me exactly what parts were going to be used.

So, I took my money elsewhere, to CRAFT DIFFERENTIALS!
Ask for 'Red' he'll sort ya out..

If you are "hard" on first gear and have bad driving habits , an upgraded front planetry set is the go. I got the 4 planetry set and so far so good, but did cost me $650 just for the part and the 2 needle thrust bearings(dear but works). I had heard some of the 6 gear sets were failing, but i didn't see any proof of it.

Gee have't prices gone up. Neil did my c4 sometime in 1993, best thing i ever done. Probably jinxed myself now but i couldn't speak more highly of there work or service. Still using the same box cost back then $650.

That is almost my box even down to the price. I had the same box in the car for over ten years and never had any trouble at all. I dont think it is over priced for what you are getting. Just dont do what i did will you, when you buy one make sure you service it, not that mine played up.

I would ask that they upgrade the band to be better than the oem and the frictons be better than oem to if they already aren't .
