seeing that soon i will start my 351 clevo rebuild i am wondering what are some good combinations, i'll be using 302 heads that much i know. so what about pistons what should i look into getting and of course what cam, i'd like to keep with a hydraulic job but i am open to suggestions?
Before i forget it will be a Toploader with a 9" running 3.5:1 gears.

What power band do you want? Whats your max rpm that you'll rev the engine to.

I'm sold on the 302 rods with the 351 crank, have a look at some old threads on this, it makes sense. Find a piston to suit the 6inch rod. Choose a piston that will give you the right compression ratio.

well i have an Edlebrock Performer Manifold, but aparently ther not much chop for the top end power, or high revs. but i was thinking more along the lines of tunnel ram or something big and crazy like that. but seriously i would like an engine that scares me when i drive it, i've even considered going to an AOD gearbox and running 4.11 or lower.

to make a tunnel ram work properly you are going to want a massive cam, biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig ports and low low gears.
In this day and age I would think something like a TFC or Funnelweb would be a better choice. I wouldn't go less than a cam similar to the crane F246 (.570/.590).
If you want a lot of power I would suggest going mechanical and doing it properly.
If you want a car that scares you.. you need to figure out just how courageous you are to figure out how much you will need to spend :)
