and with these new parts i was only able to run 9.5's.....the car is running fine and not bogging or anything.....it does have a slight bit more wheelspin but not much.....If you have any ideas i would appreciate them.
what size gears are you running? when ever i read the discription of a cam it usually says for cars with high comp ratios and gears between this and that... maybe a set of 4.11's with a limited slip is all you need to let your stuff free. personaly i dont see how gears can effect a cam but hey if they say so.
The comp 268H is a fairly small cam you cant even notice it unless you lower the idle to like 500 rpm....and works fine with a stock stall and the 3.25 gears that are in the car now.....
I am actually adding 4.11 gears and a locker soon. I have already bought the gears.
Certain gears work better with certain cams because it allows the engine to get to the rpms faster that the particular cam makes power at. Thats what I think anyway. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
I have came to the conclusion that maybe a vacuum secondary carb was not the best choice for what I wanted. I might end up changing to a double pumper, many people have told me it would have better throttle response.
The 268H cam is just above a stock one with 4.11 gears you will run out of revs very quick, the cam would only power to 5000rpm and 4V heads arent happy to 4000rpm. If you are going the run 4.11 gears your economy is out the window so a far bigger cam and stall would be the go. The 4v heads dont like low rpms
lol yeah if I wanted economy I woulda just bought a honda or somethin....the car pulls great up until 5300 rpm.....As long as the ETs go down I'm happy I mean damn I need to at least run 8's.
the 411s will help lots the cam is 2 small, 298/ 526 hyd cam 2800 stall 2000 stall is not enough either, 4015 lbs 72 fastback torino 14.90s @ 96mph @ 6200 air/Alt. trap rpm 5800.
yeah well i just barely put in that cam so its not gonna get changed for a while. and a 2000 stall with the 268H is way more than enough. I'd like to remind everyone that it is an open chamber engine it only has about 9:1 compression. The more I drive the car the more I think it is just the carburator slowing it down....the edelbrock that was on it before was a mechanical secondary and it ran good....the vaccum secondary on it now takes a few seconds for the power to really come alive. I think im just gonna try swappin the 750 VS for a 650 double pumper. Btw thanks for the replies you guys are helpin me alot.
well i went to the track last night and was able to pull a 9.45....the reason is cause it is spinnin the tires like mad. I know the car can do so much better than that....i looked on my time slip from my fastest run ever it was 9.22@74 mph.....and i was runnin 9.5's all last night @ 77-8 mph....so my mph has improved quite a bit while the et is gone down.....
