Cleveland V8 Block I.D. - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hi guys,

I'm a bit confused at the moment about the ID stamps on Clevelands. I'm fine with the location of the engine number (labled "B" in the below pic), but I have no idea what the code stamped further up is about (labled "A" in the below pic).

I've come across a few different blocks that seem to have codes that don't line up with any engine types listed on the net. The XB in the picture has "R" stamped on it.

If anyone has any info what this stamp means I'd really appreciate it :)

no idea really .. but the engine / chassis number is the more important number as you can tell what it came from originally.

I have seen all sorts of stuff punched in there and never looked at it to be honest

As this bloke says is of importance, can't really say what the others mean could be the year or month the block was casted.
