Re: Cleveland vs Windsor

No it means the block angle is 90 degrees. 60 degrees is a V6 (Capri style) Are you serious Bob told you a Windsor was 90 degrees? ha ha ha. Wanna know a real handy bit of info??? If you put Clevo heads on a Windsor block you get a BOSS engine, but you need a rare and very expensive intake manifold. I like the opening description of a "knob Jockey" I havent heard that 1 before and Im still laughing.

Re: Cleveland vs Windsor

You're both kinda right.

The 90 degrees actually refers to the angle between the two banks of cylinders.

Coincidentally, in a 90 degree V8, the engine does fire every 90 degrees of crank rotation.

However in a 70 degree V8, the engine would not fire every 70 degrees of rotation.

If you made a 120 degree V6, it would fire every 120 degrees of crank rotation and the same principal applies for a 180 degree V4 (Volkswagen) or a 60 degree V12.

But the degrees as quoted actually refers to the angle of cylinder banks to each other.

Understand?

Being a four stroke engine, it takes 720 degrees of crank rotation to fire all cylinders. 720 degrees divided by 8 cylinders is 90 degrees between power strokes.

It's the main reason that 72 degree V10's are the go in Formula 1.

No, 90 degree refers to the angle at which each row of cylinders are apart.
Has never been any different.
