Anybody got any idea what kinda compression the XY GT engines were running back then? Also anybody got any links or documentation for engine specs when they were brought out?
I would say 10.3:1 at a guess. I know people will come in and say 11.5 and 12.5:1, but unless they had lumpy top pistons, they didnt have close to 12:1.
What did you do in your combo to get 11.5:1?

The '71 XY GT used a standard 4v closed chamber engine. The compression was rated at 11.0:1. Max HP was 300@ 5400 rpm with 380lb/ft @3400 rpm. The standard GT ran a 600 cfm Autolite carb, single point ignition,stock exhaust manifolds with twin 2inch pipes. They were sort of like the XR8 today, nice to drive with ample power. We used to see XY GT's at Castlereagh at the street meets running high 14's -low 15's. HO's were somewhat quicker especially if fitted with slicks.
