12.98@107MPH
Thanks xacoupe and brenx, I am the happiest van driver alive today.
I ran the van at Calder on Friday night, and then at Heathcote yesterday(Dragracing). It held together well, and I am in awe at the potential of the Cleveland V8.
The guys @ Hallam Performance were very up front with me about setting up the nitrous. Andrew asked me, "Is this just for fun, I mean do you care if it blows up?" If he was trying to get my attention it worked!
I didn't have all the gear to tune the setup correctly. Basically I still need the $250 bottle blanket. They ran it up once on nitrous enough to say it was running very rich, but safe for a bit of fun.
Calder on Friday night I was running low 13's, but at 105MPH up from 101MPH.
Before I left for Heathcote, to get my nitrous bottle pressure up I put a $3.50 hot water bottle under it. I changed the water several times and also got hot water from the shop at Heathcote. Bottle pressure went from 650 to 885. Supposed to be b/n 900/950.
I did a few baseline runs off the bottle with the timing dialed back to 8*. Best of 13.83@98.94. Four runs on the bottle, hitting the button after I left the line got a best of 12.98@107. Traction was a bit of a problem for most at Heathcote.
There is still more in this combo both on and off the bottle. I am keen to see how far it will go. Everyone is surprised by the performance of my van, it is not your standard choice for a drag car. Perhaps because of this people are telling me I have a freak motor or something. I think I'm just discovering what people have known for 30 years-the Cleveland V8 is still a great base for a performance V8.
Imagine if there had of been slicks or some of those street legal slicks from VPW on there.
Either way you got to have happy about that time. You would have given quite a few people a shock. Which I reckons bloody fantastic. Like the discussion we had on Friday Workhorse.
